After our recent 2021 announcement, TotH team leads and organizers met to discuss a topic that we have found ourselves extremely split on: the continuation of the 2021 event and Tip of the Hats as a whole beyond it.

It is with heavy hearts that we have decided that Tip of the Hats 2021 will be our final event.

The content of the 2021 event has not been fully fleshed out, but some changes are being made to the content lineup to include highlights of prior year’s events (with couch commentary), to serve as a way to reflect on prior events and provide some closure for our audience and staff while supporting Camp One Step who have continued to provide programs for children during these past two years of the pandemic.

The event in general will ultimately be more relaxed and have an extremely casual vibe compared to prior year’s events. Per the previous announcement, there will still be no medals or item donations.

There are many reasons for why we ultimately landed on ending TotH after 2021, some of which range from changing interests between our staff & audience to volunteers simply not being able to commit the same amount of time they used to be able to. Tip of the Hats began back in 2013 (nearly 9 years ago!), and the simple reality is that much has changed between then and now.

Thank you to everyone who has ever supported Tip of the Hats in any way, shape, or form. From volunteering time as a participant in the event to getting the word out and donating, no contribution made by our community has ever been seen as too small. You have brightened many children’s lives and we could not have done it without you all. Without you guys, Tip of the Hats would have never existed.

We look forward to reliving past events with you all on October 1st and 2nd over at our Twitch stream. Head over to our Discord if you’d like to discuss this post with the community.

Thanks to Jasmine Ho for editing :)
